How to find a good dentist?

How often do you google “dentist near me”, “best dental specialist near me”, “affordable dentistry near me”, “best dental insurance”? To find a good dental specialist, we are taking a lot of steps:  resorting to the advice of friends, asking colleagues at work, and reading hundreds of google reviews about random dental offices. Long story short:  we just want to receive high-quality dental service at an affordable and fair price. We are trying to find the perfect combination of dental price and quality dentist.

And this is a great point. Today we have such an abundant choice of dentist offices, and we do not always know the difference between dental specialists and we are not sure where to properly address a particular dental problem. We are just looking for a dentist who can treat our teeth, and we are offered whoever they are: Endodontist, General Dentist, Periodontist, or Pediatric Dentist. Orthodontist, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, and more.

This article should help you to find the right dental specialist for any kind of dental problem.

General Dentist

All practicing general dentists have earned either a DDS or DMD degree (doctor of dental surgery or doctor of dental medicine, respectively).

A good General Dentist can do fillings, all types of root canal treatment, PFM Crowns, Zirconia Crowns, Dentures and Partials ( acrylic and metal), veneers, and even placing dental implants, sinus lifting, bone grafting, wisdom teeth extraction, and more. If you have pain in a tooth – the best option is to schedule an appointment with a general dentist.

Endodontists

Endodontists are specialist dentists who focus on disorders of the dental pulp and specialize in treatments such as root canals.  It means that he may be not able to help you with a filling or crown, but he will be definitely a good solution for a calcified  or complicated root canal treatment

Periodontists: Periodontal & Dental Implant Specialists

A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease (a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth also known as gum disease), and in the placement of dental implants.

Pediatric dentists are dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teen years. They have the experience and qualifications to care for a child’s teeth, gums, and mouth throughout the various stages of childhood.
An orthodontist is a dentist trained to diagnose, prevent, and treat teeth and jaw irregularities. They correct existing conditions and are trained to identify problems that may develop in the future. Orthodontists work with people of all ages, from children to adults.
